Jennifer Leeman receives 2024-2025 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award

Jennifer Leeman, professor of Spanish linguistics in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, will spend the fall semester at the Universidad de Murcia in Spain, where she will lecture on topics in applied linguistics and sociolinguistics as well as aid in the supervision of doctoral students. She will also carry out a research project, an empirical study of language attitudes among international university students studying in Murcia.

Melissa Duluc honored with distinguished alumni award

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to honor Melissa Duluc, MA Foreign Languages '18, with the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award in Modern and Classical Languages.  Duluc is currently a Spanish teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. In 2021, she was awarded the Fairfax County Public School’s Outstanding Secondary New Teacher award, which can only be awarded within the first three years of teaching.
