Invitational Pedagogies for Transformation

What does pedagogical transformation look like? What’s the relationship between language, reading, writing, teaching, and progressive social-justice work? How can we use words, ideas, theories, and stories to develop inclusive, life-affirming communities? In short, how can we invite (not impose!) transformation in our classrooms? Drawing on Gloria Anzaldúa’s wide-ranging pedagogical experiences as well her own, Dr. AnaLouise Keating (Texas Women's University) explores these and related questions in this presentation. She offers an Anzaldúan, post-oppositional approach to teaching for social justice.
